A networking journalism youth group of Asia Pacific
1. Why 2015?
The year 2015, known as the Millennium Year, was unanimously approved in the 2000 Millennium Declaration by Heads of State and Government around the world as a targeted time to achieve 8 Millennium Development Goals and to put an end to extreme poverty across the planet.
The year 2015 is also our group’s strategic theme to raise our voices as responsible citizens of the Asia Pacific region in the Regional Millennium Development Goal Campaign. Only ten more years for this world to accomplish its pledge and we acknowledge our responsibilities to “Speak up for 2015!”
2. Who are we?
Suf2015, whose name announces its motto – “Speak up for 2015!”, is an excellent meeting point of highly motivated young people from different nations of the Asia Pacific region. As responsible global citizens and dynamic young writers, we are campaigning for a more effective Millennium Campaign in the region with the youth acting as catalysts for change.
Our network has already reached Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and obviously, the list continues to grow.
3. What we do?
We actively write articles that bring the MDG messages closer to young people thereby raising MDG awareness among them.
We enthusiastically engage young people and youth organizations to campaign around the MDGs.
We are currently supporting a partnership between TakingITGlobal, the Global Action Youth Network and the United Nations Millennium Campaign. Our members and collaborators, scattered over many Asia Pacific countries, are making crucial contributions to the building of TIG’s Monthly Theme on MDGs, the UN CyberSchoolBus website and many other activities involving proactive youth in the Asia Pacific MDG Campaign.
