Called Maanu Mukasuumbwa in Tonga, the radio programme producers who are children themselves will be hosting fellow children to discuss various issues that are affecting them in their daily lives. The Executive Producer will just be helping them identify the issues and how to present the programme. This is in an effort to give them a time to share their thoughts, hopes, visions and ideas to the development of their communities. The Kasuumbwa project intends to contribute to the welfare of fellow children by making their voice heard through radio. The group shall be producing weekly 30minutes programmes in local Tonga language to be hosted by children. The guests shall also be children. Once in a while the children shall be inviting some adults involved in child welfare programmes to ask them questions on radio. Talks shall also be organised by specialist NGOs on Children’s Rights where parents and children shall be invited. The group shall also be holding serious campaigns joining the rest of the world on different issues, e.g. The Walk the World – Fight Hunger Campaign that the group participated in. The group has also participated in raising their voice on Make Poverty History. As they always say that children are the leaders of tomorrow, Maanu Mukasuumbwa, will be shaping the path for their ideal livelihood. Child labour can contribute to physical development problems. Children, including those who work on farms or help their families with food production, have the right to enjoy childhood and the right to education and learning. Today’s rejects are tomorrow’s heroes.
