Project: South East Asia Youth Forum (SEAYF)


Overview

South East Asia is a region of the Asian Continent. Presently, it is composed of 11 countries and majority of which is part of the underdeveloped and its government are plagued with issues of corruption and mismanagement.

Corruption and mismanagement in some ways have given opportunities for unequal participation from the young social activist for the main reason that people who are in power wants to have control and perpetuate within the governmental structure.

As we see the need for equal participation of the young people in policy and social developmental changes, we are also faced with the problem as to how we can tap and access equal participation to advance social changes.

It was on this point that we have decided and stand to be united for the involvement of the youth. We have come up with the idea of putting up an avenue for South East Asian Action Partners to communicate, encourage, network and advance youth involvement or participation in our own countries. Cultural and language barriers have been set aside so as to make the forum sustainable. And I guess such is one achievement of OIYP 2004, that they were able to unite this young people despite the differences.

Thus the group decided that due to geographical barriers we have come up with an online forum. Such a Forum will give us opportunities to network with other NGO
