Fighthiv is an organization that adresses problems related to HIV/AIDS like (preventive) counseling, test, treatment for opportunistic infections, awareness programmes through the media, seminars and outreaches and also child and Orphan support.
For over four years, our team has been working (but with little advancement) on extending the potency of the protease inhibiting ARVs with tha aim of making the efficacy of these drugs longlasting as the 2-week time phase for the ones we have here see a lot unaffordable by the poor and illiterate persons living with the virus especially in rural communities.
The Fighthiv medical team are mainly young graduates of medicine, pharmacology and med. biochemistry and since then, we've had no team here or abroad to work with to harness ideas. For now, we are not far from the use of other therapies. We have a great deal of knowledge on the various therapies but a major problem is that we have not been able to start research on it because because it is very expensive and the medical personnel over here still use the conventional methods and getting their aid has been very difficult.
Fighthiv organization has other duties like Voluntary preventive measures, free counselling and test, child and orphan care as well as distribution of ARVs and these have greatly reduced the pace of our research team in all directions. One of the problems we have been having is passing the message to the kids who are orphaned by HIV/AIDS as their emotion provide no room for any comprehension.
